Dried orange slices bring warm color to a handmade Christmas garland. For a first project, craft-ready slices let you focus on assembling a balanced decoration. If you dry fruit yourself, follow a reliable drying method and make sure every piece is fully dry before storage.
Choose the slices and layout
Select clean, fully dried decorative orange slices without soft spots or visible mold. Lay them on paper and alternate their sizes so the finished line does not look rigid. Decide whether to include a few wooden shapes, keeping the design light enough for the support you will use.

Prepare a gentle hanging method
Use a needle and sturdy thread suitable for the project, with tools handled by an adult. Pass the thread through a firm part of each slice near the rind rather than through a fragile center. Make a short test section and lift it carefully to check that the holes hold without tearing.

Space the pieces without pulling
Leave a little thread between slices and use small knots if necessary to prevent them sliding into one heavy group. Add hanging loops at the ends and support a longer garland at intermediate points. Do not stretch the finished piece tight or position it where opening a window will catch it.

Treat it as a seasonal decoration
Keep the garland away from food, heat, flames, children, and pets. Decorative slices are not a snack. Inspect it during the season and discard damaged or damp pieces. Store only thoroughly dry materials in a suitable dry location, and make a fresh garland if the condition of the fruit changes.
