A neat napkin and a ribbon can make an everyday plate feel ready for Christmas dinner. This simple wrap avoids complicated folding and works especially well when you need to set several places quickly. The same idea can adapt to different napkin sizes.
Choose fabric that folds comfortably
Use clean cotton or linen napkins with enough body to hold a rectangle. Press them if needed, following the care label. Test the fold with one napkin before doing the full stack. Very thick fabric may look better folded once and laid under the plate instead of wrapped into a narrow packet.

Make a relaxed rectangle
Lay the napkin flat, fold it in half, then bring the sides inward to create a rectangle that sits comfortably on the plate. Keep the finished fold loose enough to open easily. Aim for similar proportions across the table rather than measuring every crease to make the napkins perfectly identical.

Tie a short, removable ribbon
Wrap ribbon around the middle and tie a soft bow or a simple knot. Trim tails so they stay on the plate. Do not attach decorations with pins, staples, or loose hardware. Set a separate place card under the ribbon if you want to assign seats without adding another object.

Keep food-contact details simple
Use clean, colorfast ribbon and avoid glitter or shedding greenery near dishes. Remove the wrap before serving if the plate will hold food directly. Store the ribbons in a small bag after dinner, ready for another gathering. The napkin should still be easy for a guest to open and use.
